Don’t count the days, make everyday count!While many are waiting for the lockdown to cease, why don’t you make the best out of it? Here are 10 tips to help you beat the isolation boredom!
1. Write a diary. Who was not inspired of the story of Anne Frank? You can be inspiring too by writing your diary in this time of war against COVID-19. Jot down what you feel, think, observe and do. Your experience can be a fun thing to read years from now and it can be a future reference to understand life during the infamous pandemic.
2. Video call with your loved ones. People say that “distance can’t separate people who truly love each other.” Can this be true in times of community lockdown? The answer is a resounding YES! Take advantage of technology to show how much you care for them. You can use Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber, Kakao Talk, Line, Skype and the like. Remember, they are just one chat away!
3. Watch movies with your family. You might not often have quality time with your family before because of studies or work. It is now the perfect time for you to bond with each other while you watch your favourite movies. Movies such as Hachi: A Dog’s Tale (2009), Big Fish (2003), Cinderella Man (2005), The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Finding Neverland (2004) are highly recommended for you. Should you ask for more movies that suit your preference, well, Netflix is always there for you.
4. Decorate/redesign your room. Let your creativity flow while redesigning your room that fits your taste and style. You can reposition your bed, tables, cabinet and other displays. You can also add some DIY room decorations such as Flower lights, Clothesline picture holders, Washi tape pin board, T-shirt doormat, Braided laundry basket, Colorful floor cushion and Pillowcase laundry bag. Just stimulate your creativity and resourcefulness so you can have the most wonderful room you can ever have!

But if you have the passion in cooking, you can also make your own recipe and be the chef of the house. There are more to discover in cooking!
6. Read books. Instead of focusing on negative things that are happening in the world, divert your attention by reading books of your choice. Not only can you learn something and be inspired, but you can travel to places indirectly, too. Among the highly recommended books are War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, Ulysses by James Joyce, The Shadow of the Wind by Caros Ruiz Zafon, and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. You may want to also read through e-books and Wattpad. There are plenty of stories you can choose from these apps.
7. Read the Holy Scriptures. Be spiritually and morally stable despite Covid-19 Pandemic! Read the Holy Scriptures! It has plenty of verses to help you deal with the current situation. You can also share your favourite verses through your social media accounts.
8. Enrol for a free online course. It is the time to learn more and acquire new skills. There are plenty of websites that offer short courses for free. One good website is the futurelearn.com where you can learn from a wide range of topics such as Creative Arts and Media, Business and Management, History, IT and Computer Science, Language, Literature, Teaching, etc. from top educators in UK. International Certificate is also given after the completion of the course.
9. Do some household chores. It might be surprising to you but doing some household chores such as washing dishes, making your bed and dusting can lower stress, boost happiness, and protect against heart disease (Reader’s Digest). So what are you waiting for? Splatter your bones and grab the dishes and brooms! It does not only help you, you can help your parents too!
10. Do some exercises. It is important to maintain your wellness while home quarantined. Here are some exercises you can do at home: Bodyweight squats (20 reps), Push-ups (10 reps), Walking lunges (10 each leg), Dumbbell rows (using gallon milk jug or another weight) (10 each arm), Plank (15 seconds), Jumping Jacks (30 reps).
