The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) notches manifold awards during the recently concluded 3rd Regional Criminology Student Congress held at Saint Louis College (SLC) San Fernando, La Union last November 8-9.
Mr. John Gil De Leon, Mr. Ranny Ebreo and Mr. Randolf Javinar showed their remarkable reasoning and logical thinking skills as they defended their side (con) in the motion Federalism be implemented in the Philippines. The judges were impressed with their intellectual ability and their art of debating which, consequently, made them win the championship. Moreover, Mr. Javinar was awarded as the best speaker during the said competition after displaying his eloquence and proficiency in English.
On the other hand, Ms. Marycris Claveria and Ms. Rina Retonda, after competing against more than ten school entire the region, got the second place in the quiz bee competition. The questions in the quiz bee cover different major subjects which they have undertaken during their 2nd year to 4th year.
Other awardees are Mr. Ray John Balanquit who won second place in vocal solo after serenading the judges and the crowd with his song How Did You Know by Gary Valenciano Mr. Rey Mark Goltiao who was awarded second place in the Karate Competition.
The coaches who persevered to train and motivate the students are Ms. Angelica Tan and Mr. Marvin Sermonia Jr. “It was really an intense competition and we did not expect that we can achieve as much as that knowing that we only had limited time to prepare,” the coaches said.
“It was really impressive because it is only our 2nd time to join such competition and yet we were able to achieve those awards,” Ms. Mylene Eubleara, the head of CCJE, said in an interview. She also added that “this achievement only shows the quality of education that PUNP-Tayug is offering to the criminology students.”
The debaters will be competing for the national level in De La Salle University – Dasmariñas next year.
